At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a 3-year position as Postdoc in reliability and recyclability of high-power magnetic components is open for appointment from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2028, or soon hereafter.

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.

The position is offered in relation to the research program Power Electronics Packaging Materials and Emerging Applications and the Postdoc will be positioned in the section of Power Electronics System Integration and Materials.

Research areas will be within magnetic components at AAU Energy.

Understandably, the potential applicant may not have direct experience with magnetic components until the day for applying this position, however, the candidate is expected to have the following skills / degrees that will help the team in solving the relevant challenges of high-power magnetic components in the future :

• Have a PhD degree in Power Electronics related topics.
• Have solid experience in using FEM-based analyzing tools.
• Have solid experience in understanding physics, especially in thermal-mechanical physics.
• Understanding the ageing mechanisms of materials, including copper, tin, and other polymer materials. It is encouraged the applicant to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a material physics background.
• Have knowledge and experience in analyzing the reliability of power components, e.g. magnetic components, power modules, and semiconductors. It will be encouraged if the applicant has working experience in industry for these topics.
• Have experience in running cycling tests for experimentally assessing the reliability of power components, e.g. power cycling test, thermal cycling test, and vibration test.
• Be open to studying and researching challenging topics, for example, MW-level high-power magnetic components.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

Løn og ansættelsesvilkår
