Job beskrivelseCall for open-rank academic position in child and adolescent developmental psychology The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) seeks an excellent candidate for an open‑rank academic position in psychology. The position is available from 1 October 2026, but an earlier or later starting date is also possible. Childhood and adolescence are key components of the Department’s current strategy. We aim to strengthen expertise and impact in middle‑childhood and adolescent development, and therefore invite applications for a strategic, full‑time, open‑rank position (Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Full Professor) in this area. Applicants whose research and teaching focus on middle‑childhood or adolescent development are especially encouraged, particularly if their work engages with contemporary challenges and/or has applied relevance, including but not limited to: Digitalisation and youth culture Neurodiversity and developmental variation Identity and socio‑emotional development A preferred candidate would have: A strong research profile within basic, applied or clinical middle‑childhood or adolescent psychology For applicants with an applied profile, clinical training and expertise would be an advantage Positions and Terms Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor: Research and teaching obligations with a contract of six years that can lead to a tenured associate professorship (contingent on positive evaluation). Associate Professor: Permanent position with research and teaching obligations. Full Professor: Permanent position with research and teaching obligations. The hired candidate will join a faculty group researching and teaching across different areas of Psychology. Teaching includes lectures, practical training and theoretical seminars, as well as supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in Clinical, Developmental, Neuropsychology, and/or Educational Psychology. Responsibilities are shared across faculty members. The candidate is expected to contribute to a new educational specialisation in applied child and youth psychology. Teaching is conducted in Danish or English. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct high‑quality basic or applied research, deliver excellent teaching and support to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and fulfil additional roles depending on appointment level. Competencies and Opportunities Candidates must hold a PhD in Psychology or a neighbouring field and have an active research programme relevant to Clinical/Applied Psychology. They must have an emerging (Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor) or established (Associate or Full Professor) track record of successful research and research‑based teaching, and experience supervising junior researchers for higher appointments. Candidates should show strong collaborative skills, willingness to take on academic and organisational citizenship or leadership roles (commensurate with rank), and possess interpersonal skills conducive to collaborative teaching, research projects and administrative duties. Commitment to student learning, welfare and experience is required. Merit Criteria and Career Progression Six general criteria apply to employment at the University of Copenhagen—research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and management—forming a framework for overall assessment. Applicants are additionally evaluated against specific requirements set out in the advertisement. Terms of Appointment and Compensation Salary and appointment terms comply with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne). A 18.07 % pension contribution is paid in addition to salary, and salary supplements may be negotiated annually. Tenure‑Track Assistant Professors are on a six‑year contract; Associate and Full Professors hold permanent appointments.
