About the role

The successful applicant will work within a very supportive team of teachers in a small school environment with a variety of different aspects to the school, a working farm and a residential college with associated staff for both aspects. The successful applicant will possess strong teaching and classroom management skills and a proven capacity to foster a good working relationship with senior school students and work as an effective member of a small team of teachers. Applicants with experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), Agricultural Science, Plant Production Systems, Biology and / or Animal Production systems, will be highly regarded.

The successful applicants should have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students of all phases of the West Australian Curriculum and will be experienced at differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of the students. At WACOA – Denmark, we are committed to improving the numeracy and literacy skills of our students to support their achievement across the Year 10-12 curriculum and therefore provide a solid platform for success.

Our school

We are renowned for our outstanding Vocational Training and Education (VET) outcomes, as well as having an excellent reputation for our academic program with approximately one quarter of our students on an ATAR pathway. In addition to our academic program, all students at the College spend at least one day a week undertaking workplace learning on the College farm where, under the supervision of our Agricultural Training Officers, they work toward the completion of a Certificate II or III in Agriculture. By completing their education and workplace training on a farm, which strives to achieve industry best practice, our students are prepared for a smooth transition into the world of work.
